    This 2-hour Beginners Crochet Workshop will take you on a fantastic discovery of the world of yarn, different crochet stitches and exciting projects you can make.
    Crochet is a very relaxing craft which is also rewarding and fun. You can enjoy a relaxed afternoon with Debbie who will teach you the Four Basics of Crochet:
    • Casting on
    • Casting off
    • Chain Stitch
    • Double & Treble Crochet Stitches
    Once you have learned those fundamentals, giving you practical advice, support, and time to practise straight away, you will leave feeling more confident at having a go at those little projects when you get home to continue your love for crochet.
    There will be follow-on workshops available too so that you can venture into more complex makes when you’re ready.
    Everything you need will be provided for you, including a choice of yarn and a crochet hook.
    You can also purchase wool, equipment, and other haberdashery items on the day.
    There will also be plenty of tea and coffee breaks, including cake, what’s not to like.
  • With Artist Kate Morrell Course Dates: Wednesday 6th December, Wednesday 13th December - 6 - 8.30pm | Sunday 10th December, Sunday 17th December - 2pm to 4.30pm What better way to spend your afternoon than surrounded with fresh seasonal foliage, sweet scented oranges and the warmth and comfort of mulled wine and mince pies!  In our heated Potting Shed create your own Luxury Christmas Wreath using fresh ingredients in abundance and a sprinkle of Christmas Cheer! Your Wreath can hang on your door or take centre stage on your Christmas Table.  Kate will demonstrate the skills you need and guide you as you create what will no doubt be a thing of utter beauty and indeed the talking point of your Christmas Decorations! Mulled wine and mince pies will be served and all materials are included!
  • Time: 10.00am - 4.00pm Calla Crafts and Obsidian Butterfly are proud to bring details of our forthcoming silversmithing classes. All classes are for all levels, including absolute beginner. Beginners usually start with a pendant. You will learn to saw, file, drill, texture, acid etch, solder with a blow torch and polish. More advanced students can learn stone setting and ring making. Suitable for 16 years and older For all classes you must wear closed in shoes (no open toe sandals etc), and you will need to remove long accessories such as scarves and pendants. Long hair will need to be tied back. Full health and safety information and will be given on the day at the beginning of the course. What's included in the price?   • Time: 10.00am - 4.00pm Ever dreamed of creating your very own handwoven fabric? If so, this workshop is for you! Suitable for complete beginners or those with a little more experience. Each workshop is focused on a small group (max 6); allowing for individual support in a relaxed and creative environment. So, if you are new to weaving, or looking to develop your skills by experimenting with colour, yarn and texture – come along and join the fun.  Whether you already have a creative idea in mind, or are just happy to experiment; you will have an enjoyable time creating a truly unique piece of work alongside other like-minded people.  You will be able to create a unique length of fabric suitable for a scarf, small cushion cover, place mat or piece of wall art – so everyone leaves with something special. The workshop looms will be ‘pre-warped’, so after some initial instruction you will very quickly get on to the exciting bit of weaving your own fabric and playing around with different yarns and textures. Christina Kalkun from naturallytextile.co.uk will be helping you create your individual textile pieces. Handouts will be provided for techniques covered. What's included in the price?   • Workshop with Kate Morrell Sunday 21st May 2023 Time: 10:00am to 4:00pm Whether you are a beginner or have previous experience in Willow Sculpture, artist Kate Morrell will guide you in a relaxed informal setting. Learn the techniques required to create your very own Willow Obelisk.  Obelisks are around 4 to five foot tall and are used for climbing plants in ornamental borders or in the vegetable garden. Includes materials, a light lunch, teas and coffees.
  • Workshop with Kate Morrell Time: 10:00am to 4:00pm Whether you are a beginner or have previous experience in Willow Sculpture, artist Kate Morrell will guide you in a relaxed informal setting. Learn the techniques required to create your very own Willow Animal of your choosing. Includes materials, a light lunch, teas and coffees.
